Lauren Mallett (she/her/hers) was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She has lived and studied in Guanajuato and Xalapa, Mexico. Lauren taught dual-language immersion fifth grade in Richmond, California. She earned her MFA and was the Assistant Director of Creative Writing at Purdue University. Her poetry appears in Tupelo Quarterly, Smartish Pace, RHINO Poetry, Passages North, Fugue, Barrow Street, Sou’wester, Spoon River Poetry Review, and other journals. She is a 2016 and 2019 Pushcart Prize nominee. Lauren is the recipient of scholarships from the Indiana University Writers' Conference, the Indiana Writers' Consortium, and Taleamor Park. She has taught for the Indiana Writers Center Summer Learning Programs, the Lafayette Writers' Studio, and the Reynolds Young Writers Workshop. She is a certified yoga instructor and a trained birth doula. She lives on Oregon's north coast, on the traditional homelands of the Clatsop people, with her partner, Strand Sheldahl-Thomason.
